In a nice win for C&O client and recent exoneree Robert Smith Jr., the Illinois Court of Claims awards Robert the maximum amount allowed by statute, explaining that while the “Court cannot give Mr. Smith back his life. [It] can only hope that his wrongful conviction (along with several others who have appeared before the Court) will serve to dramatically reduce police misconduct.” (The Court also acknowledged “Mr. Smith’s counsel for their tireless devotion in securing Mr. Smith’s freedom.”)

Victory for C&O client Chardonnay Dialysis and two of its nurses, a federal court in the Central District of Illinois entered summary judgment in their favor, rejecting plaintiff’s claims of malpractice. Court dismissed the case in its entirety.
